The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan @Bayramov_Jeyhun chaired and addressed the Informal Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States @Turkic_States on the sidelines of #UNGA81.
In his speech, the Minister has highlighted the deepening unity among Turkic states bound by shared roots and history, emphasizing the strategic necessity of reinforcing multilateral partnership amid evolving global challenges.
The Minister elaborated on key milestones under Azerbaijan’s Chairmanship following decisions and initiatives at the Gabala Summit.
During the speech Minister has thanked the member states for the active participation at the events hosted in Azerbaijan. The events marking the centenary of the First Turkological Congress, that made an important contribution to the study of the language, history and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples was mentioned as an important milestone.
Moreover recent meetings in Baku, including those of the Secretaries of the Security Councils, the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Boards and leading national analytical centers, demonstrated the breadth of this agenda.
Highlighting the importance of further enhancing the international standing of the OTS, the Minister noted that securing observer status for the Organization at the United Nations General Assembly is one of the common objectives.
He has reiterated the strategic necessity of strengthening physical transport linkages and
transit infrastructure across the Turkic geography, enhancing regional resilience and connectivity.
Moreover it was noted that expanding practical, sector-specific cooperation across trade, energy, ICT, science, technology, and culture to build direct opportunities for our business communities and peoples are of high priority.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also wished full success to brotherly Türkiye for hosting COP31 in Antalya and the upcoming 13th OTS Summit in Ankara, reaffirming Azerbaijan’s continued support.
The meeting successfully concluded with the adoption of the Statement of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States.
